Los Angeles Times Reader Promotes English For Immigrants

Los Angeles Times reader Jim Blumel of Santa Clarita, California, recently wrote an opinion letter that was published by the newspaper.

In his letter, Blumel wrote how his grandparents came to the United States from Europe, learned English, and insisted that their five children only spoke English at home.

Blumel urged today’s immigrants to do the same. He concluded that today’s immigrants “will find success in their ability to immerse themselves in our culture and assimilate into our society.”
