ProEnglish Executive Director Stephen Guschov was a recent guest on “The What’s Up Radio Program With Terry Lowry.” Lowry’s Texas-based radio show airs in Houston and Austin and globally online.

Guschov and Lowry primarily discussed the recent Dunkin’ Donuts case in which a franchise general manager in Baltimore, MD, posted a sign asking customers to report employees who were speaking any language other than English in the workplace. Dunkin’s Donuts soon received pushback on social media and removed the sign.

Guschov explained how ProEnglish has been at the forefront of efforts to educate employers about their rights to English-in-the-workplace policies and how the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (“EEOC”) continually launches renegade efforts to litigate against employers, even as courts repeatedly have affirmed that employers have the right to establish English-language policies in the workplace.

Guschov and Lowry also discussed how 53 United Nations member nations have English as an official language, while the United States does not, along with updates about the the progress of the English Language Unity Act in Congress and a potential repeal of former President Clinton’s onerous EO 13166 by President Trump.
