FL Shuts Down Trucking Schools After Graduates Fail English Proficiency Requirements

The Florida Department of Education (FDOE) recently announced it is ordering ten trucking schools to cease operations after discovering they had certified drivers who were subsequently cited for failing federal English proficiency standards.

The ten schools have been ordered to cease advertising, recruiting, enrolling students, and collecting tuition, as well as to identify any impacted students. They’re also being required to report actions taken to federal regulators.

This move comes after a nationwide federal investigation in which 110 commercial driver’s license training schools across the country were removed from the Training Provider Registry.

Over the past year, ProEnglish has been heavily focused on the trucking industry following a string of high-profile accidents that were the result of truck drivers lacking fluency in English.
