Illegal Immigrant Truck Driver Charged in the Death of Pennsylvania State Police Trooper
Last week, a Haitian national was charged after colliding with and killing a Pennsylvania State Police trooper with a semi-truck. This is the latest incident in what has become a series of fatalities involving non-English-speaking and/or illegal migrant truck drivers causing crashes. Fox News broke the story, and you can read their article here.
The driver, who came to the U.S. in 2024 under a Biden-era humanitarian parole program, was in the country illegally after the DHS terminated his parole in June 2025 and ordered him to leave. It doesn’t stop there: the driver was charged with reckless driving, homicide by vehicle, and other offenses, indicating this was more than just a freak accident.
The victim, Michael E. Pahira Jr., had recently moved home to help care for his mother, who is undergoing treatment for cancer. This is a very sad situation that could have been prevented with tighter CDL restrictions, among other Official English and immigration policies. We’ve seen action from the Department of Labor, state governments, the Supreme Court, and the Department of Transportation, but federal legislation is the real solution.
Codifying Official English nationwide will help keep our roads safe. Steady progress has been made with legislation such as Dalilah’s law and H.R. 1772, but these bills need to finally be passed before more lives are lost.
The safety of our police officers, children, and everyone else on our roads comes first, not trucking company profits or radical left-wing immigration demands. Unfortunately, this issue has become far too prevalent for Congress to keep putting it to the wayside. For this cause to gain traction in Congress, we need you to contact your members and tell them to cosponsor these efforts to make English our official language.
