A positive development for Official English.

Rep. Brandon Gill Becomes 17th Cosponsor of H.R. 1772

On Monday, Rep. Brandon Gill (R-TX-26) officially signed on as the latest cosponsor of H.R. 1772, a piece of legislation that would designate English as the official language of government operations.

ProEnglish has strongly supported this bill, which now has a total of seventeen cosponsors following its introduction by Rep. Robert Aderholt (R-AL-4) in March 2025.

Rep. Gill is a rising star with a prominent media profile, and we’re delighted that he’s lent his support during this critical moment.

Codifying Official English into law would save billions in government-mandated translation and interpretation costs, and encourage assimilation for new arrivals.

This policy is popular with the American public, and a Rasmussen poll commissioned by ProEnglish shows 73% of Americans support making English the official language of government operations.

Please go to our action center and encourage your Representative to cosponsor and support this important piece of legislation.
