Scoring / Rating
Candidates can improve their scores by clarifying a position in the media, on their website, in a debate, by cosponsoring a current bill in Congress, or by simply contacting ProEnglish with their clarified position on any of the questions in our survey, which was mailed to each candidate’s campaign.

 denotes a policy position that ProEnglish deems favorable.

 denotes a policy position that ProEnglish gives partial credit.

redx denotes  a policy position that ProEnglish deems unfavorable.

 denotes an unknown policy position.


Letter Grades
Grades are based on a perfect score of 24 points. Issue categories are weighted as follows.

Official English = 8 pts, Bilingual Ballots = 4 pts, Amnesty = 2 pts, Puerto Rico = 2 pts, English-on-job = 4 pts, Multiculturalism & Assimilation = 4 pts

20- 24 points = A
16 – 19 points = A-
12 – 15 points = B+
8-11 points = B
4-7 points = C
0-3 points = D
negative score = F
