Sen. Bernie Moreno Sponsors the English Language Unity Act of 2025

“It is a welcome move that U.S. Senator Bernie Moreno has come forward to codify into law President Trump’s Executive Order stipulating English as the official language of government.” says Executive Director Ellen Hamilton-Cotten.

Born in Bogota Columbia, Moreno proudly became a citizen of the United States at the age of eighteen after moving here with his parents at just five years old.

Before entering politics, the Senator had a highly successful career but after selling most of his business, he began to focus on what he believes is his calling: protecting the American dream for another generation.

“JD Vance was right – English is the official language of the United States and, as one of the only naturalized citizens serving in the Senate, I should know,” said Moreno. Endorsed by President Trump, the Ohio Senator was elected to Vance’s Senate seat after Vance was chosen to be the President’s
running mate.

Moreno continues to strongly lead the efforts to have English as the official language of the United States, by sponsoring the English Language Unity Act (S542).

In the U.S. House of Representatives, Congressman Robert Aderholt of Alabama and Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia are also sponsoring English language legislation.
