English Language Unity Act Gains Momentum, As Five More Reps Become Cosponsors

The English Language Unity Act (H.R. 997) is gaining traction in Congress!  Yesterday, we reported that House Majority Whip Rep. Steve Scalise (LA-1) signed on as a cosponsor to the bill.

ProEnglish would like to thank Rep. Doug LaMalfa (CA-1) Rep. Darrell Issa (CA-49) Rep. Robert Pittenger (NC-9) Rep. Steve Chabot (OH-1)  and Rep. Mike Bishop (MI-8) for cosponsoring HR 997.

HR 997 now has 86 co-sponsors plus the sponsor, Rep. Steve King for a total of 87 supporters.

If enacted, the English Language Unity Act would make English the official language of the Federal Government. Congressman Steve King was the original sponsor of the bill.
