Geraldo Rivera Interviews ProEnglish Spokesman Phil Kent on English and Puerto Rican Statehood

Category:

This past Tuesday, ProEnglish Board Member Phil Kent was interviewed by Geraldo Rivera on KABC radio in Los Angeles.

Kent defended the idea that Puerto Rico must make English their primary official language if they want to be a state. Rivera and his other guest both opposed Kent's reasonable positions.

This issue came up again in the news because Rick Santorum and Mitt Romeny were at odds last week over Puerto Rican statehood. Rick Santorum said he wanted English to be the primary official language of the island before statehood could be considered.

Mitt Romeny adopted the opposing view during a recent radio interview. He claimed Puerto Rico does not need to make English the primary official language before it can become the 51st state.
