1. What is ProEnglish’s mission and when was it founded?
Answer - ProEnglish was founded in 1994 with the mission to work through the courts and in the court of public opinion to defend English's historic role as America's common, unifying language, and to persuade lawmakers to adopt English as the official language at all levels of government.
2. How is ProEnglish different from US English and English First?
Answer - While ProEnglish, English First, and US English are all dedicated to promoting official English, ProEnglish has become a leading defender of our nation’s language on the federal, state, and local level.
3. Where is ProEnglish located?
Answer - ProEnglish is located in Arlington, VA. ProEnglish has active members in every state. If you are interested in becoming more involved in your state, please contact our office.
4. Why don't more organizations combine efforts and resources? How do I know which organization to support?
Answer - Organizations such as ProEnglish and English First etc. do keep in close contact with each other. Each organization fits a niche and fits it well. When we have an opportunity to get together and discuss strategies, we do.
5. Our family is going to take a vacation to Washington, D.C. May we visit ProEnglish?
Answer - You are more than welcome to visit our office. ProEnglish is accessible by Metro. Take the Orange or Blue Line to the Rosslyn Metro station. To schedule a visit, please call us at 1-703-816-8821 and ask to speak to our Website and Social Media Manager.
6. I would like to work at ProEnglish. How can I become an employee?
Answer - ProEnglish has no openings at this time. If a job opening is available, it will be listed on our website.
7. How can I volunteer in order to help ProEnglish accomplish its mission?
Answer - Please visit http://www.proenglish.org/main/help to learn how you can get involved!
8. How do I update my email address and subscription preferences?
Answer - You can subscribe to ProEnglish’s action alerts by visiting our subscriptions page. You can edit your email by clicking on the "Edit Email" button at the bottom of all of our emails. You can use this feature to unsubscribe from any of our publications or to change the email address where you receive our updates.

Answer - You are more than welcome to link to ProEnglish’s website. However, you must seek our permission before using ProEnglish’s website graphics. Please email us your specific request.

Answer - Yes, ProEnglish is a 501(c)(3) non-partisan, non-profit organization that does not support, endorse or oppose candidates. As a 501(c)(3), ProEnglish is able to spend an insubstantial part of its budget on direct and grassroots lobbying.

13. What is ProEnglish’s stance on immigration?
Answer - ProEnglish is a language advocacy group. Although official English is often tied to
immigration, we focus exclusively on immigrants in this country learning our nation’s language,
English. We oppose blanket amnesty because it would allow 11 million or more immigrants to
bypass the English proficiency exam required for citizenship and in turn cost taxpayers millions
of dollars for multilingual translation services.
14. Where does ProEnglish get its funding?
Answer - ProEnglish is supported by voluntary donations and grants. The bulk of ProEnglish’s
contributions are received from individuals. Donations to ProEnglish are tax deductible.
ProEnglish does not receive any funds from any federal or state government.
15. Is my donation tax deductible?
Answer - Yes, all contributions are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. ProEnglish is classified by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization.
